Sometimes you just need a simple, no-nonsense app to quickly check different sports scores. Back on iOS, I used Sportacular which was efficient in this regard. On WP8, I tried a few apps like ESPN but it just seemed a bit too cluttered and many other apps had me going into menus, then sub-menus, just to check a score. For this reason, ScoreMobile is my go to app which quickly lets you browse through scores of a specific sport without any hassle.

 

You can easily set up your favorite sports so that you can conveniently access them via swiping, without the need of filtering through sports you don't follow. From there, you can tap on "scores" and you'll be provided with all the scores from that day or week. You can also check scores from previous events, check schedules, and get some recent news and video updates. Although not as thorough in that aspect as more dedicated sports apps, its convenient, non-flashy presentation is certainly welcome when all you need is the score.

 

Although simplicity is the main emphasis I'm putting in this app, you can access a few other features such as stats and live scoring. If there are any live games you can check out the box score and manually refresh to get updates from the game. Of course there is some delay, but from my experience, a less than a minute delay is certainly better than several minutes long. There are certainly a lot more flashy and in-depth sports apps, especially if it's geared towards a particular sport, however ScoreMobile is the best quick score-checker that I've used so far.
