Speedtest.net (Version 1.0)

Ookla's Speedtest.net can be seen as a standard for your basic network speed testing. I've used their website a lot of times to test the speed connection of my cable internet at home and when I had my iPhone I used their app to test the speed of the 3G network in my area. Ookla has finally released their app for WP8 and gives users a chance to test their network speed, whether it's wi-fi, 3G, 4G, or LTE.
The app is pretty self-explanatory and easy to use. It'll automatically search for the nearest server and load your device to test download and upload speeds. Obviously the results of the test will vary depending on your ISP and cellular network but here are some of my samples.
I'm based in San Francisco, California using Comcast Cable for my home network (wi-fi) and AT&T LTE for my cellular network. The photo to the left shows my wi-fi speeds and to the right is AT&T's LTE. As you can see, the LTE network is blazing fast compared to my home cable network. Usually I'll average around 20-25mb up and 5mb down on my hard-wired connection and even still, the speed of LTE is super fast and it definitely shows while I use it around the city.
If you want to test your mobile phone's speed, Ookla's Speedtest.net is the standard and you should definitely give it a try to see what kind of speeds you're actually getting.
Pros : Ease of use
Cons : None
