The long-awaited third-party Instagram application, Instagraph, finally hit the marketplace, but in less than a day has already failed miserably. Linking your pre-existing Instagram account was easy enough (sorry, no new account creation for now) and I would've loved to test out the app more thoroughly, but the developers turned off the upload and have temporarily removed the app from the marketplace.
Some of the initial complaints - uploaded photos would take several minutes to half-an-hour to actually upload and when uploading a photo, a photo that wasn't yours would upload to your photostream. The app doesn't seem to be "insta" at all and these server issues have forced the developers to temporarily disable the app to fix the issues.
It's kind of a disappointing result, especially with all of this waiting. A majority of users seem optimistic, saying to "give it time", and "it's only the first day" but it seems WP users have already waited long enough. As far as the servers being slow, people give the excuse of saying "there's a whole lot of demand." But if you're releasing the only type of app (currently) which "let's you upload to Instagram" it would be smart to release a beta or do some load testing. It would seem obvious that there would be a barrage of users on the first day.
However, I'm still grateful for the developers trying to get everything resolved and for creating this app. Although I've purchased it on the first day, I've yet to fully test the app since they shut everything down before I could really do anything.
Hopefully the app will go back live soon and a full review will be posted.
