Indigo is a voice-enabled personal assistant app, much like Siri on the iPhone. You can update social networks, play music and videos, get directions, set alarms, and more, all by voice - in theory. Although available in the marketplace, it's still in beta form and minor glitches may affect it's performance, although I didn't encounter any during my short trial of the app. Indigo shows a lot of potential but unfortunately fails to deliver.
The initial tests I performed were asking for directions, searching for places to eat, playing music, asking for time, and general conversation. For directions, I tried multiple times to get a route but Indigo could not recognize the location. Searching for places to eat resulted in the same outcome and I could only get a somewhat relevant answer by asking for a general "fast food restaurants". Playing music was also spotty at best and was nowhere near as accurate as the HeyDJ! app.
If you're asking for general information such as time or weather, it has no problems answering and general conversation worked seemingly well. But the overall speech recognition was extremely lackluster. The built-in WP8 home button worked better overall. Admittedly I didn't try all the advertised features but the initial tests left a bad taste and generally speaking, the app needs much better speech recognition. It becomes frustrating to use, repeatedly asking the same question over and over, speaking as coherently as possible.
Still, Indigo loads nice and quick and the interface is easy to use. With a more solid speech recognition software it can definitely be a useful tool for those who like reciting instead of typing to obtain information. But as the app stands now, it leaves a lot of to be desired.
Pros : Quick loading, clean interface
Cons : Speech recognition software is subpar
