Submarine Patrol is an interesting shooter that utilizes the phone's tilt sensor to control lateral movement. You take control of a submarine and your objective is to shoot down the passing enemy ships that come into your view. It's a simple game but can be fairly fun.
The game view is from the submarine's periscope and your main control is sideways movement of the scope via tilt controls. The tilt works well and is smooth and responsive. Your other controls are two "fire" buttons on either side of the screen. You're provided a radar where you can see the enemy ships and you'll need to tilt your view to get the ships into view.
The enemy ships move from either the left or right and depending on the type of ship, they'll move at different speeds. When you fire your missiles they take a few seconds to reach the path of the ships so you'll have to lead your shots to ensure that they hit their target. Obviously, the smaller, faster moving ships will take a bit more precision in leading your missile shots to get an accurate shot.
The trial only features one stage but you can get a fairly good impression of the game. Graphics are simple, but the game play is pretty solid and overall is a decent arcade type shooter.
Pros : Fun, solid, arcade shooter with responsive tilt controls
Cons : Feels a bit plain
