ThereIsNoPauseButton (Version 1.0.0.4)
Scott Cawthon
$0.99
ThereIsNoPauseButton is a simple side-scrolling game where the screen automatically scrolls horizontally and all you do is jump to avoid obstacles and reach the end of each stage. These "endless" scroller games can be fun a ton of fun on mobile to kill time, but unfortunately this particular app is not one of them.
The graphics are a simple pixel/retro style and you have the option of playing background music which comes in an electronic flavor, or you can keep it silent if that's not your style. As soon as you begin the game, the screen will start scrolling horizontally as your avatar begins to automatically sprint to the right. Falling spikes, lava pits, and fire-breathing dragons will all hinder your progress as you're forced to jump over certain objects and activate switches to be able to reach the end of the stage which are relatively short.
However, I've honestly only played two levels before I quit. Why? The jump control is pretty damn horrible. I don't like writing reviews without much hands-on but this game's jumping mechanics are so off-base that after more than a handful of tries, I just didn't feel like trying any more.
All the game needs to do well is jump and it can't properly deliver. The touch and response just doesn't lag, which you could probably adjust to, but it feels like a combination of lag, unresponsiveness, and randomness. It really kills the game IMO and is definitely not worth the $0.99, unless off course you like seeing yourself plunge into lava over and over.
Pros : Decent retro/pixel style graphics
Cons : All you do is "jump" and the control is atrocious
